Feihe Dairy Limited Liability Company was originally located in the port city Qiqiha'er in the Heilongjiang province, the nation's largest producer of soybeans and milk. Qiqiha'er is located 170 miles (274 km) northwest of the provincial capital of Harbin, with 219 square miles (567 square km) of pure grassland and the beautiful Nen River crossing from north to south. The National Ecological Agriculture acknowledges this as the best area for raising cows, producing milk, and producing raw material of green food.
In 2004, the office of American Dairy was relocated to the Chaoyang District of China's capital. Chaoyang District is an emerging financial hub, serving as a diplomatic window of Beijing. Since the 1980s, more than 13,000 enterprises have settled down in the area. The district houses more than 60% of the foreign business agencies in Beijing, over 3,000 foreign companies, and over 100 of the global top 500 transnational companies that have invested in Beijing. In 2000 alone, the district registered 48 billion yuan in GDP.
American Dairy's recent move to Beijing signifies a strategic move to ensure continual growth and development. Beijing is not only the Chinese capital but also the political and financial hub, where a talented workforce exists due to outstanding universities in the city, including Peking University and Beijing Normal University. Information is also more accessible when operating out of Beijing.
